ASPIRES Tanzania is a USAID funded development project through Michigan State University that seeks to engage the government of Tanzania, private sector and civil society stakeholder is program applied policy analysis policy outreach capacity building and promoting of policy coordination ASPIRES goals is to accelerate the adoption in Tanzania of more effective policies and programs to drive broad based agricultural sector growth improve household food security and nutrition and reduce poverty.

Among aspires supported activities is nutrition policy ASPIRES contribution towards Tanzania landscape will focus on improving the quality and effectiveness of nutrition policy while providing technical support to institutions implementing nutrition policy and programs in Tanzania

Nutrition research specialist 
The nutrition research specialist will report to the head of office ASPIRES DODOMA and receive guidance from the senior nutrition specialist. The NRS will support research and knowledge management in nitration including integration of nutrition in agriculture and food systems. SHE will also supporting PRO-RALG nutrition section in implementing of various nutrition should be activities. This position is based at the ASPIRES sub-office in Dodoma however field research travels should be expected

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Specific duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited) the following
i. Conduct literature review provide research assistance on the linkages among agriculture, nutrition, health , gender and equity
ii. Assist in creating and managing knowledge products such as blogs for building awareness and capacity of research about gender and equality issues in partner institutions including CGIAR centres
iii. Assist research terms and the programs management unit to document evaluate and learn from the research outcomes and impacts
iv. Assist providing technical assistance for assistance for integrating gender and equity in A4NH projects including the development of quantities and qualitative research protocols instrument and documentation
v. Support the commissioning and management of external evaluations
vi. Assist in the planning and coordinating of meeting , workshop and events
vii. Contribute to proposal and to report
viii. Disseminate information about A4NH works to external and internal audience

QUALIFICATION
- A minimum of master’s degree in relevant discipline – nutrition, economics, agriculture economics public health epidemiology and other related fields
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience post- master’s work experience
- Good knowledge of a policy analysis and the conceptual understanding of multi-sectorial approach to nutrition development
- Demonstrated skills in quantitative and qualitative research method and data analyst
- Experienced in STATA, SPSS and other statistical software
- Excellent writing skills and ability to prepare presentation including text and graphic
- Excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to work independently and with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Having knowledge of GOT institutions such as TFNC, PO-RALG,MOHCDGEC, MoA, SUA,etc would be an added advantage
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
