Country Background
CRS in Tanzania works in very close collaboration with the Catholic Church and implements programs through both Churches and secular local partners. CRS has been helping poor, vulnerable families improve their lives through orphans and vulnerable children, agriculture, health, microfinance and WASH programming in Tanzania since 1962.
Job Summary:
As a member of the ASRP project team, you will monitor and report on all project activities in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.
Job Responsibilities:
• Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices. This includes the delivery of nutrition sensitive interventions and Social and Behavior Change Communication messages that focus on maternal and child health and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices.
• Identify progressive farmers within communities, support them to set-up Farmer Field Schools, procure agricultural inputs, arrange training and provide technical support to farmers as they establish their kitchen gardens and local food preservation systems.
• Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
• Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting partners in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with local partner(s) to prepare reports per established reporting schedule.
• Collect information on staff capacity needs and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and monitor capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.
• Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.
Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or other related fields (masters is preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in project support for an NGO would be a plus.
• Knowledge and experience leading nutrition-relevant activities is an added advantage.
• Additional education may substitute for some experience.
• Experience in participatory action planning and participatory methods for helping smallholder farmers improve their production and productivity (farmer field schools, farmer research groups) desired.
• Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
• Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Observation, active listening and analysis skills with ability to make sound judgment
• Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members
• Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities
• Proactive, results-oriented and service-oriented
Required/Desired Foreign Language
Travel Required: 75% travel to field locations.
Internal: Project Staff, Administrative and Finance Staff, CRS East Africa and Headquarters Technical Advisors.
External: Implementing Partners, Ministry of Agriculture (national and local), Research Institutions, Agricultural Input Providers (seed, fertilizer, veterinary services) and other stakeholders.
Key Working Relationships:
Supervisory: Nil
Internal: ASRP Program Manager and other team members, Head of Programs, Deputy Head of Programs, CRS East Africa and Technical Advisors, Operations staff.
External: Project Implementing Partners; Ministry of Agriculture, Health, Research Institutions, other NGO and other relevant working groups
